Spiramus Press is an independent publishing company specialising in practical and professional publications in relation to business, tax, finance and accountancy. We also publish historical biographies and non-fiction texts on the topics of wealth and finance.
The company was founded in 2003 by Carl Upsall with the goal to produce books that are both rigorous and clearly written by specialists in their fields.
Our range of history and biography titles aim to provide valuable insights into the lives of influential figures and also to demystify areas of finance.
UPDATE: From 1st July 2026, physical book orders will be processed and facilated by our distributor Mare Nostrum Group and completed via their online bookstore. eBook orders will remain here and will be completed through our website. Further details will be announced shortly.
Carl Upsall - Founder and Director
Carl has worked in the publishing industry for 35 years and has managed the inhouse publishing programmes of the Law Society and the Industrial Society. He graduated in philosophy in 1985, with a special interest in theories of justice; an area of philosophy/legal theory which he is still studying.
Outside of work, he is a keen kayaker and clarinet player!
Cecilia Hallpike - Publisher
Cecilia graduated from the University of Birmingham where she studied Spanish and Catalan. She has recently completed her Masters degree in publishing at Oxford Brookes University.
She is based in Sheffield, where she can be found out in the Peak District or singing in a local choir.
