Spiramus Press is an independent publishing company specialising in practical and professional publications in relation to business, tax, finance and accountancy. We also publish historical biographies and non-fiction texts on the topics of wealth and finance.
The company was founded in 2003 by Carl Upsall with the goal to produce books that are both rigorous and clearly written by specialists in their fields.
Our range of history and biography titles aim to provide valuable insights into the lives of influential figures and also to demystify areas of finance.
Carl Upsall - Founder and Director
Carl has worked in the publishing industry for 35 years and has managed the inhouse publishing programmes of the Law Society and the Industrial Society. He graduated in philosophy in 1985, with a special interest in theories of justice; an area of philosophy/legal theory which he is still studying.
Outside of work, he is a keen kayaker and clarinet player!
Cecilia Hallpike - Publishing Assistant
Cecilia recently graduated from the University of Birmingham where she studied Spanish and Catalan. She is quickly learning the ins and outs of the publishing industry, and has been working on proofreading and editing manuscripts, social media and marketing and website management.
When she isn't working she can be found at the climbing gym, baking bread or trying to find the least hilly cycling routes around Sheffield!
